Colourpop Super Shock Cheeks, Shadow and Lippie Stix Review

Lippie Stix:

These $5 lipsticks, which they call lippie stix, are highly pigmented, creamy (for the most part, I’ll get into that later), and last a decent amount of time. Safe to say – I’m in love. I purchased my first three a couple months ago and within a couple weeks of testing them out, I ordered five more.

Colourpop is an indie makeup brand and you can only purchase their products on their website. They are very talked about on social media and on Youtube. That’s where I initially heard of them.

There are 4 different types of finishes for the lippie stix: matte, satin, glossy and hyper glossy.

I have 8 mattes in my collection and I find the matte’s are drying on the lips (like most matte lip products) and don’t wear as nicely as the other finishes. Since they are drying when you apply the product, it tends to tug on the lips a little bit. That being said, I don’t think they are terribly uncomfortable at all and it never stops me from wearing them. The pigments in these are intense. They look great with no touchups for about 4-5 hours on me. When they begin to fade it seems to be mostly on the inner portion on my lips (towards my mouth). When I touch up, I put product where it fades and have no issue with that. They don’t ball up when layers are applied throughout the day.

The satin, glossy, and hyper glossy all feel the same on my lips. I have 2 satins, 2 glossy’s, and 2 hyper glossy’s. They glide on easily and are extremely pigmented as well. The lighter shades (after about 7 hours) begin to fade nicely into the shade of my own lips. They do not ball up or feather or even sink into the lines of my lips but fade evenly as time goes on. Touch ups, similar to the mattes, are easily done with no issues.

The packaging is a simple white tube with the color on the bottom along with the name. One thing to note is that if you carry one of these around frequently the label tends to rub off (the picture below shows it). It doesn't bother me because I can still see the name and color clearly on the bottom but I just wanted to mention that.

Colourpop also sells what they call lippie pencils. These each have corresponding lippie stix and the colors are very similar, making a perfect lip liner for every shade they have. I have not purchased any of their lip liners because I have absolutely no problem with feathering. The lip liners would, without a doubt, extend the life of the lipstick but I do not tend to ever put on a lip liner unless I want my lip product to last over 8 hours.

Overall, I really love these lip products. They offer a large variety of different colors in lippie stix and in lip liners. The variety is huge and they also have some very unique colors (like blues). They are comfortable and easy to use. What’s not to love?!

Super Shock Eyeshadow:

The Colourpop eyeshadows are also $5 a pop. They offer many different shades within their range. They are very pigmented, similar to the lip products. The formula is pretty unique; if you have ever felt the Maybelline Dream Bouncy blushes – that’s what they are the most similar to. They dip in slightly when you put your finger in and the product can almost be ‘bounced’. It is an extremely creamy texture and is also very fragile.

If you were to, by accident, scoop your nail inside you could easily pull a lot of the product out. They also can dry out (although I have never experienced any dryness in the 6 months that I have used them) so Colourpop recommends tightly closing the lid and not leaving the product exposed for too long. The packaging is a simple white pot with a clear top to see the product. It feels relatively sturdy and I think it’s perfect for the product it’s housing. Not too bulky at all because most of the pot is taken up with the product. I wonder though, in the future, how they will be able to make palettes out of this formula. They do currently sell ‘foursomes’ but they are simply four different individual eye shadows. I would, and I think most people would, enjoy something where they are permanently held in some type of typical palette layout.

I own 4 colors: Lovely, Get Lucky, Envy and Ibiza. As you can see, these are extremely pigmented and gorgeous. There isn’t really anything negative to say about them except one little issue I have. The reason I haven’t ordered any more of these shadows is because of the way you apply them. If you apply them with your fingers you get the most intense color and best payoff but I don’t really like putting my eye shadows on with my fingers. I find that I cannot be as precise as I want and I’d rather use a brush for smaller areas. With a synthetic brush they still can be applied with good color but just not as much as with my finger.

Blending is pretty easy – even with the darker shades like Envy and Ibiza. These do not ‘set’ on your eyes so you have plenty of time to blend and mess around with the color. With some cream products they have a limited amount of time that they can be moved when applied onto the skin but these are similar to “cream-to-powder’ products. It feels like they turn powdery once out of the pot.

I tend to use these eye shadows when I really want my eye shadow to be special and stand out; although, I do not use them enough to warrant buying more. That being said, if you are comfortable with applying eye shadows with your finger I would say buy, buy, BUY!!! They are absolutely amazing and up with some of the most pigmented eye shadows I’ve ever used.

Super Shock Cheek:

I picked up 5 of Colourpop’s new blushes (all a 'matte' finish): Clutch, Holiday, Pie, Thumper and Early Bird. They initially offered 20 blushes (13 matte, 7 satin) on their launch date - February 12. I have no doubt that they will continue to release new shades but 20 is a pretty substantial amount. They are offered at $8 per blush. The packaging is the same as the eye shadows but you do get double the product! Thankfully the price did not double along with that.

These blushes have the same consistency as the eye shadows - very bouncy, light and pigmented. The recommended way to apply these is with your fingers (for the most pigmentation) or with a duo fiber brush. I have only applied these blushes with a duo fiber brush simply because I don't like using my fingers when applying makeup. However, you do pick up a good amount of color when you use your finger.

These colors are so gorgeous and surprisingly natural looking! I thought that the brighter shades would require a good amount of blending but they apply sheer enough that the color is noticeable yet natural looking. It is also super easy to build up color if more pigment is desired. The formula is an A+ in my book. It is definitely a unique formula but once you play around a little bit, it's a breeze.

The blushes are also SUPER long wearing. I'm not talking 6-8 hours... I'm talking over 24 hours!!! I applied these at around 5pm, slept in it, and woke up around 10am with the blush still prominent on my face. I rarely sleep in makeup but some reviews have said that the blushes barely fade throughout the day so I decided to do the ultimate test. I was definitely not disappointed!

Overall, A+++++. I'm pretty obsessed with these blushes and how insanely natural they look on the skin!! The price, pigmentation, and lasting power of these are all perfect in my eyes. These are a must in my opinion for anyone who loves to play with makeup and have it looking great all day!

    1. Hahah they're pretty cheap ($5 for both eyeshadows & lippies, $8 for the blushes) but once you start buying it's hard to stop >.<
