The limited edition NARSissist Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette retails for $79 - a pretty hefty amount for only 8 eyeshadows but the value is definitely there. Each eyeshadow has 0.03 oz in this palette but if you buy the individual dual intensity shadows they are 0.05 oz. If you bought these individually, at full price, you would end up paying $232. Now, you are also getting 0.02 oz less per eyeshadow but I still think its amazing savings.
This palette gives you a chance to try 8 different intensity shadows without giving Nars all the money in your savings account. The packaging is okay, not my favorite. The mirrored front attracts fingerprints like none other and the back (which is the typical Nars rubberized finish) attracts product and fallout. I would actually prefer to have the whole thing rubberized but the mirror might come in handy. If the mirror inside breaks (seems unlikely but you never know!) then you have a backup on the outside or vice versa. It isn't a warped mirror by any means and I think it serves its purpose.
As far as bulky-ness I'd give this a 6 out of 10 in terms of being slim. It's not super compact - I think they could have made it slimmer considering the low ounces in each eyeshadow but it's not terribly big. An OK for traveling and relatively sturdy.
This palette has the following description on the Sephora's website: "These revolutionary shadows can be worn wet or dry and offer versatility from sheer to dramatic for a smooth transition from day to evening. They are specially formulated for crease-proof wear for up to eight hours."
As you can see from the swatches above, when wet these shadows are intensely pigmented. I definitely could have kept dragging the pigment down on the wet side. You can see that the dry side started to fade around the bottom of each swatch but the wet side did not. The pigment is average when dry and can be exaggerated with water (or fix+) if need be.
I found myself slightly disappointed by the pigmentation when dry. From all the hype around this product, and the price alone, I expected to be blown away. When using the lighter colors I had to go back two to three times in order to get the desired pigmentation. Don't get me wrong, the colors are all very beautiful and unique but the darker colors definitely take the cake on this one. As far as blending I was very impressed with how well I can smoke out the darker colors. It does not take much effort and makes applying deep colors easier than other eyeshadow formulas.
As you can see, my palette is well loved already. I purchased it a few weeks ago and have been loving the lighter shades to put as a lid color. It comes with a flat shader brush but I don't find myself reaching for it too often. When used wet it doesn't seem to pick up too much product. I'd rather use my fingers instead to get the most pigmentation.
Overall my thoughts:
Packaging •B
Pigmentation •A-
Blend-ability •A+
